The Sobonya Family

Kelli Davis Sobonya was born July 13, 1963 in Ironton, Ohio. After growing up in the Westmoreland area of Huntington, West Virginia until 1975, she moved to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area with her family due to her father's job transfer with Ashland Oil, Inc. She graduated from Ambridge Area High School in 1981 and from the Institute of Computer Management in Pittsburgh. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Ed Sobonya, she moved back to the Huntington area. They have been married for 26 years and and have two children, Andrew, a graduate of WVU Tech with a degree in electrical engineering technology is employed with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and is married to the former Tiffany Pratt.They are the proud parents of Isaiah Davis Sobonya. Their daughter Abby graduated with honors from Cabell Midland High School and is a college freshman majoring in political science.

Kelli has worked for Marshall University School of Medicine and she graduated from the Real Estate Development Center in 1997 and became licensed in West Virginia as a real estate agent. She joined Metro Properties in 1997 as a Realtor and is currently a licensed Realtor associated with Century 21 Homes and Land Real Estate. In addition, Kelli worked part-time at Covenant School, a classical & Christ-centered school in Barboursville as assistant to the Development Director. She and her husband owned, Gym Factory Tumble Jungle, in Barboursville.

Prior to being elected, Kelli served as a volunteer lobbyist for pro-family issues for 10 years for such organizations as West Virginians for Life and WV Christian Coalition. She was appointed to the Cabell County Emergency 911 Advisory Board for the Cabell County Commission and completed her second term. Kelli is a member of the Farmdale Church of Christ, where she has served as Church Clerk and as a youth leader/teacher for Kindergarten through 5th grades & nursery. She also is active in Rotary Club, serves on the CIS (Communities in Schools) Board for the Cabell FRN, and is a member of the Government Affairs Committee for the WV Association of Realtors (WVAR). In 2002, she was chosen "Woman of the Year" by the West Virginia Chapter of Concerned Women for America.

Her memberships include: WV Chamber of Commerce; Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce; WV Hospital Assoc. (HOSPAC); WV State Medical Assoc. (WESPAC); WV Healthcare Assoc.; WV Farm Bureau; WV Bankers Assoc.; WV Wholesaler's Assoc.; WV Assoc. of Realtors (WVAR); WV Homebuilders Assoc.; WV Family Foundation; West Virginians for Life; LifeGuage; National Rifle Assoc. (NRA); WV Coalition of Christian Women; WV Contractors Association, WV Women of the Year Recipient (Concerned Women for America - CWA); Friend of the Taxpayer Award Recipient (WV's Against Government Waste); Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) Pledge Signer.

Kelli has been a life-long Republican and is grateful for the opportunity of serving the citizens of District 16.
